This post is based primarily on Don's notes, occasionally supplemented with MT's notes from our cruise in 2018. The photos that accompany this post are from Don’s camera (with a caption indicating the time it was taken).
We woke at 3:15 am to get ready to take a minibus from the Corinthia Hotel to the airport at 3:30.
Our group got a sack breakfast from the hotel.
The bus actually left sat 3:20 and arrived at the airport round 4 am for a 6:30 flight.
Going through security with our sack breakfast, MT got patted down, checked with a wand, and had to empty our her around-the-neck pouch where she kept her passport. Then her bag got pulled aside and she had to throw away the carton of orange juice we had not noticed.
However, Don went through the x-ray machine with no problems and didn't get his bag sidetracked or lose his orange juice.
We joined other Viking passengers at Gate A8 and ate our sack breakfasts while we waited. There had been a Viking person at the check-in kiosk who did it for us. She was a blonde waitress from the Viking Bragi who had met us at our arrival at the Corinthia Hotel the evening before and at our early departure from the hotel in the morning.
We boarded the plane (KLM 1972) at 6:00, but takeoff was delayed until 7:00 because of weather (rain in Amsterdam).
